Modern times saw concrete as one of the cheapest source of flooring. In comparison with other materials, concrete blocks, all made of concrete, a mixture of powdered Portland cement, water, sand, and gravel. It can be used for road pavements, pathways, gardens, house interiors, pool areas, infrastructure developments and building constructions. It has a wider range of usage and considered as most economical.
Concrete blocks are also used for building concrete walls. The concrete mixture used for blocks has higher percentage sand and lower percentage gravel and water, than those used for general construction purposes. This creates a very dry, stiff mixture that moulds its shape when it is removed from the block mold.
Concrete block prices are slowly increasing their price due to demand but is not much as wood and stones such as limestone, etc. There are builders though, who are capable of manufacturing their own blocks, so as not to burden their clients. These can be manufactured through the use of a concrete block machine.
This machine can mass-produce these concrete building blocks and is not hard to carry around the construction site. Operators of these machines can stay put in one place and continue their production depending on the need of a particular company involved in a construction transaction.
It is easy to make these blocks and manufacturers do this by using concrete block molds. It has the shape of the desired dimension of the blocks they will use for a specific area. While some clients have the money to spend to buy these blocks, some may opt to have them made by their contractor. As block sizes would vary, prices for these blocks would vary too—and for extra job orders such as a special dimension not listed on their design list, consumers will have to pay for extras.
Builders build concrete block walls for a lot of purposes. It prevents soil erosion, reinforces walls that support the building, and guaranteeing steady structure for a particular building or infrastructure. They make better and strong foundation and are somehow resistant to any weather conditions. A concrete block wall also has another kind and this is called a concrete block retaining wall. It is a type of a gravity retaining wall that makes it one of the sturdiest walls used for gardens. They are placed deep down the area where they are mapped to be positioned. This type is placed deeper below because they contain heavy soil below them.
There are several types of building concrete walls that are prevailing in different countries of the world. Maybe, it is due to culture and the kind of environment a particular race lives in. It’s up to the builders what type they would want to use.
