King Size Platform Bed Frame
When it’s time to consider a king size platform bed purchase, you’ll need to keep four things in the forefront of your thoughts. What size bed do you need and want? What type of look are you trying to achieve in your bedroom? Is there a need that you must address when buying your bed? And lastly, is cost a concern?
Upon determining the size of the bed you want, the next step is determining the size of bed you need. By measuring the bedroom, you can narrow the choices. A king size platform beds have mattresses that measure 76 inches x 80 inches. The California King mattress is 72 inches x 84 inches. Queen size platform beds have mattresses that are 60 inches x 80 inches. As you can see a person over 6 foot 8” tall only has one choice of bed, that’s the California King with a full 84 inches in mattress length. If the room will accommodate a California King and the occupants of the bed really need the length, then the choice is made. If the considerations are less exacting such as, the occupants are small people, and the room is big enough for a California king, its simply a matter of preference. Choose the size of bed that suits your tastes.
Depending on the styling of the bed, additional space may be required to accommodate the bed frame. If it is an elaborate four poster bed, you may have to consider the ceiling height, as well. Leave enough space around the perimeter of the bed to place accessories like dressers, chests, TV’s, etc. And most of all, you should have adequate space to move around comfortably in your bedroom. Leave at least 3 to 4 feet between furnishings for paths leading to other rooms and some space between all other furnishings.
When buying a platform bed frame, decide how high you want the mattress to be above the floor. This will determine how thick your mattress should be and whether or not you’ll need to invest in an additional mattress. With the advent of platform beds an even greater variety of mattress configurations emerged. Mattresses with or without springs and mattresses supported with air and foam. There is something that meets the needs of everyone, so ask the salesperson selling the mattress and they’ll probably have a solution that addresses your concern. You’ll want to buy a mattress that gives you the best night’s rest, so choose carefully. Lie down on the mattress and relax all your muscles as if you were sleeping. Test the comfort of the mattress. When you are satisfied with your mattress choice and your bed selection, all that’s left is getting your first full night’s rest in your new bed. Hopefully, you selected both your platform bed and your mattress with both comfort and design in mind.
